Qena / Nagada

Nagada Scarves Association is a group established in 2007, residing in Naqada Village in Qena. It specializes in textiles, shawls, and scarves made by skilled women artisans who once suffered from low incomes. The process involves sensitive hand-weaving and embroidery techniques that require passionate and excellent artisans. A group of 11 women working on this project, Fair Trade Egypt and Nagada Scarves Association started collaborating in 2014, we’ve helped women show off their work and get exposed to the real market which was a threat they faced. In addition to this, we made product development interventions by introducing new designs or selecting colors that matched the consumers' tastes which enabled the team to sell more products, the marketing strategies we implemented also accelerated the process of their success, as well as gave their products a chance to be exported to International markets.
